When and how do I empty the dust cup?
For optimal performance, empty the dust cup each time you vacuum, or when debris reaches the MAX FILL line.
You can remove the dust cup to empty it, or empty it while it's still attached to the handheld vacuum.
To remove only the dust cup:
- Squeeze the two Dust Cup Release latches on the sides of the handheld vacuum, then pull the dust cup straight out.
- Place the rest of the vacuum on the floor.
- Hold the dust cup over the trash and press the Empty button on the front of the dust cup. The bottom lid will open, allowing the debris to fall out.
- Tap gently to empty contents.
- Close the bottom lid, pressing it until it clicks into place.
- Reattach the dust cup by inserting it straight into the handheld until it clicks into place.
To empty the dust cup while attached to the handheld vacuum:
- Press the Wand Release button to detach the handheld vacuum.
- Reattach the handheld to the top of the wand, pressing until it clicks into place.

Filters may need to be cleaned if the vacuum stops picking up dirt, if airflow is restricted, or if you notice lighter or no suction. For optimal performance, clean filters regularly. Between cleanings, lightly tap filters clean over a trash receptacle to remove dust and debris as needed.
Rinse the pre-motor foam and felt filters once a month, or as needed.
- Lift the latch on top of the handheld vacuum to remove the filter cover.
- Remove the foam and felt filters.
- Rinse both filters with water only.
- Allow filters to air-dry completely (at least 24 hours) before reinstalling.
- Once dry, install the felt filter first, followed by the foam filter.
- Reattach the filter cover, pressing down firmly until it clicks into place.
Rinse the post-motor filter once every 9 months, or as needed.
- Locate the filter cover under the handle and press the button to remove.
- Pull out the post-motor filter.
- Rinse with water only.
- Allow filter to air-dry completely (at least 24 hours) before reinstalling.
- Once dry, reinstall the filter.
- Reattach the post-motor filter cover until it clicks into place.
Note: Do not place filters in the dishwasher or washing machine.

If you see any hair wrapped around the self-cleaning brushroll, extending the cleaning time will assist in removing it for you. We recommend extending cleaning time using the High Pile Carpet mode on a bare-floor surface to allow hair to make it's way to the dust cup.
If some fibers or string remain wrapped around the brushroll after continued use, carefully remove the debris from brushroll. Check for any foreign objects in the cleaner head and remove if needed.

To store the vacuum upright, detach the handheld vacuum and hang it from the storage hook on the front of the wand. Then wrap the power cord around the cord hooks.
You can also place the vacuum flat on the floor or lean it against a piece of furniture. The rubber pads on the base of the handheld vacuum will prevent scratching.
A wall mount is available for purchase at sharkaccessories.com for storage off the floor. Installation instructions are included.
